I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE DING ZEN ACTUALLY EXISTS!

First it is located in the middle of nowhere. It is at the small village of Jenjarom in Banting known, if at all, for its industrial estates and factories so it is as unglam as it can be. It is also an hour from Kuala Lumpur so going there is a bit of a trek.

But once there you will be amazed at the quiet prosperity of Jenjarom which must be rather rich as the 16 acres are extremely well maintained and the gardens are a joy to behold. The flowers, orchids and ornamental plants are obviously the  work of professionals and not by neighbouring aunties and uncles with time on their hands.

Everything is scrupulously maintained and in Swiss working order, all of which need money and maintenance so Dong Zen is a joy to visit! many come here during Chinese New Year to gawk at the blossoms which flower recklessly and the fabled decorations that resemble Disneyland.

Since this is the Year of the Rooster, none was surprised to see the plethora of these farm birds.

Every visitor of course prays to Buddha and Kuanyin and there is usually an exhibition of some sort im conjunction with the festivities, The large restaurant serves vegetarian food and signs forbid bringing in meat. Still, if Buddha had wanted us to be vegetarians He would have made all of us cows.

Orchids like these bloom in wild profusion though these are obviously from the nursery
A new addition is this semi openair temple facing the main hall
